Bonito Ocaso is the best kept secret in the Asheville housing market! Tucked away in the rolling hills of Enka, this Tuscan-style neighborhood transports you from the hustle and bustle of everyday life into a peaceful mountain retreat. The homes in the neighborhood have attracted single families and retirees, making it as safe as it is beautiful. The 9 foot ceilings and abundance of natural light makes these homes inviting, with each layout having an open floorplan for hosting family or events. The maple cabinetry and granite countertops in the kitchen are standard along with the hardwood floors that run throughout most of the home. All homes are located on rolling hillsides, and most enjoy a direct mountain view! Even with all these incredible features, the greatest feature of this community is the value. Reems Creek Valley

This picturesque area of real estate, just outside Weaverville, NC and North of Asheville, runs along Reems Creek in the valley surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. This area was the birthplace of Zebulon B. Vance. Vance was North Carolina’s Civil War governor and his birthplace is open for tours of this historic site along Reems Creek.

Downtown Asheville also recognizes Vance and has an obelisk similar to the Washington Monument in Washington DC, dedicated to him in Pack Square.  Vance Monument sits in the middle of Pack Square in the city center of Asheville.

Just to the East of Weaverville lies the Reems Creek Valley, which is considered one of the most scenic valleys in the greater Asheville area. The Reems Creek Golf Course and surrounding homes were built in this valley because of the scenic beauty and convenience of nearby cities like Weaverville and Asheville. This challenging golf course has fantastic views and many of the homes have golf course and mountain views. There is a wide range of home sizes within the Reems Creek Golf Course Community.

Homes are also available in the Reems Creek Villas, Reems Creek Village, Reems Creek Meadows and even some amazing townhomes with over 1,800 sq. ft.  All of these communities are serviced by public water and sewer, and have underground utilities and natural gas available.

All of the homes in this valley are perfect for year-round living or family or individual vacation homes. The golf course community has a pool, tennis courts and public golf club all surrounded by stunning mountain views.

Folks love the fact it is only 15 minutes to downtown Asheville and only 10 minutes to the UNC Asheville campus. Its only a few minutes to downtown Weaverville, which has one of the most vibrant and active art communities in the area with many artists living in this area that get inspiration from the mountain views.

I personally have taken the Weaverville Art Safari, which shows off the artists’ studios and their crafts and can attest to why they call this great place, ‘home’.

Call The Eskritt Real Estate Group and let us show you the homes for sale while exploring all that the Valley has to offer.

Montford in Asheville

Montford Historical District in Asheville, known primarily as Montford, is one of Asheville’s oldest and most established areas. Montford has a creative mix of residential homes, commercial buildings, as well as some of the best bed and breakfasts in town.

The reason Montford homes are so popular is due to its great location in the city of Asheville. On some of the farther sides of Montford, it’s only a 30-minute walk to downtown Asheville or a short drive. Being the historical district, the city of Asheville has set certain guidelines to follow as far as how home exteriors may look. More information can be found on the City of Asheville website or by giving The Eskritt Real Estate Group a call to discuss the details.

Many of the homes in this friendly Asheville neighborhood follow a Queen Victorian style with lots of unique architecture that is growing more and more rare in this area. Some homes still have the unique pebble-dash exterior which is a mix of concrete and stones to give that interesting texture, similar to what is found in Biltmore Village. The neighborhood is also very popular for income property as it’s a very desirable area to rent, being so close to downtown and only a few minutes away from the University of North Carolina, Asheville.

The single-family homes in Montford usually have an older style feel on the outside, but the insides of the homes can blow you out of the water! Many people come into these homes in Montford and completely gut the interior and update the home to their liking while keeping the exterior of the home the same, as there are guidelines one must follow should they choose to change it. Homes for sale in Montford are priced higher than the average home for sale in Asheville and range from the 200’s to 2,000,000’s depending on what you are looking for and whether you want a project or a move-in ready home.

Commercial buildings in Montford are usually comprised of offices, as well as some restaurants. Tod’s Tasties Cafe is located right on Montford Avenue and only uses local ingredients. If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend stopping by to grab a delicious sandwich, coffee, and a decadent desert.

The reason bed and breakfasts are so popular in Montford is because most of the homes that were built (which is usually prior to 1950) were made with very large rooms. This attracts bed and breakfast owners because they allow their guests much privacy. These inns draw people from all over the world because of their architecture, the proximity to downtown and other amenities, as well as the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!

Call The Eskritt Real Estate Group and let us show you the homes for sale while exploring all that this historic district has to offer.

Livingston Farms in Fletcher

Livingston Farms in Fletcher, NC is a large community developed by Windsor Aughtry. There are about 500 homes in this quaint community located between Asheville and Hendersonville. The homes in this subdivision have open floor plans, two car garages, and spacious rooms. Livingston Farms is comprised of one story, one story with loft, and two story homes.

There are a few different sub-communities in Livingston Farms all with their own individual characteristics. Many people who buy these homes customize them to their liking. The Eskritt Group has helped many buyers and sellers in this community and we have seen many upgrades including wood floors, granite countertops, and extravagant sunrooms!

Livingston Farms is made up of many different people, primarily younger middle-class families. The reason this subdivision is so great for young families is because the homes are large and affordable. There are 4 bedroom 2.5 bathroom homes for under $250,000. All the homes in Livingston Farms have good-sized lots with plenty of room for the children. These also make great homes for the elderly because Windsor Aughtry builds a great one level living floor plan. These homes were built in the early to mid 2000’s, so they are relatively new.

Fletcher, North Carolina homes are becoming much more desirable as the outskirts of Asheville continue to rise. Because these homes are outside the Asheville city limits, they qualify for USDA financing; meaning you can purchase these homes with $0 down!

The town of Fletcher has a lot of amenities and of course Asheville is only a short drive away. Fletcher has the feel of being more rural but very close to town. Living in Fletcher on the Henderson County side also has its perks compared to living on the Buncombe County side. Henderson County has been known to charge less county taxes than Buncombe County and being outside the city limits, you save on city taxes as well. The town of Fletcher, however, does charge its own taxes but they are definitely less expensive than living in the city of Asheville in a similar home.

The homeowners association in Livingston Farms covers a few things, which keeps costs low and affordable for the homeowners as well as protecting their investment at the same time. The homeowners association currently covers the common area maintenance as well as the streetlights. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to cover their own yard maintenance, which isn’t always the case in other Windsor Aughtry communities.

Call The Eskritt Real Estate Group and let us show you the homes for sale while exploring all that this great subdivision has to offer.

Lake View Park in Asheville

Lake View Park is one of Asheville’s premier residential communities with beautiful real estate and outstanding views. It has a rich history and is a well-established, well-maintained community surrounding Beaver Lake, just inside the city limits of Asheville. Frequently I am asked, “Where can you get both scenic mountain and water views?” This is the only place in Asheville where you can get both. Beaver Lake and the park are both owned by the residents, which is a great connection to your neighbors and community.

Nestled in the north side of Asheville North Carolina, Beaver Lake is owned and maintained by its residents, it is enjoyed by the residents and their guest for boating, fishing, jogging, nature walks, picnics and just the magnificent views of sunsets, sunrise, and water and mountain views. The residents also employ a warden to help maintain and enforce the rules of the lake and park for the residents and their guests. The history documents for the neighborhood are all available on the residents’ website at www.thelakeviewpark.org.

The homes within this unique Asheville community vary in both design and architecture. The available homes include historic, mid century, contemporary and new construction all within a short distance to downtown Asheville and the many shops and restaurants along Merrimon Avenue.

This community consists of approximately 485 homes and I can tell you from listing and selling homes in this neighborhood that everyone with whom I have talked to, loves living in the neighborhood. Some home buyers that I have worked with have looked for years and planned for the day when they can own a home here. With the dogwoods blooming and spring finally here, the neighborhood is especially tranquil. The average time residents own in this neighborhood is well above the average of other neighborhoods because of the strong and active residents in the Association.

The Eskritt Group is knowledgeable and familiar with this neighborhood and have experience in helping both buyers and sellers, buy and sell with success. Contact us today, with any questions about selling your home or current homes for sale in Asheville’s Lake View Park.

Grove Park Neighborhood in Asheville

As one of the most premier residential areas in all of Asheville, filled with historic homes bordered by the Grove Park Inn and golf course on tree-lined streets, nothing quite captures the imagination of future homebuyers more than this prime real estate area of the Grove Park Neighborhood. Grove Park Sunset Mountain neighborhood has all the amenities like sidewalks and neighborhood mediums that are not only traffic calmers but also beautiful gardens and floral blooms in any season. Of my 30 years in real estate, no other neighborhood has been asked about by potential buyers more than Grove Park Sunset Mountain.

This neighborhood, designed by E.W. Grove in the early 1900’s, has many historical buildings and homes including but not limited to St. Mary’s Parish, and homes of the Tudor Revival style like the house that was built in 1936 for Edgar Fordtran, Colonial Revival and a Spanish Revival style home built for Ralph Worthington, a home designed by Richard Sharp Smith, and a refined example of a Colonial Revival style house built for William Jennings Bryan.

This area was first developed by E.W. Grove, a St. Louis millionaire pharmacist, as he began buying property in 1904 and giving land to the city for E.W. Grove Park on Charlotte Street. The first phase of his residential Grove Park was platted in 1908 and in 1913 he opened the Grove Park Inn, a sought after resort by anyone visiting Asheville.

This resort and spa is now part of the Omni Hotels throughout the country. With a $25 million transformation, The Omni Grove Park Inn is ready to offer you Southern comforts and modern conveniences whether your tastes lean toward the golf course or expansive spa facilities both for the guests and for locals alike, all within the historic original structure that the Inn is famous for.

There is nothing like taking a visitor and guest to the Grove Park Inn at sunset and viewing the spectacular mountain sunset views from the terrace. This might be the reason that some folks just can’t resist the nearby neighborhood of Sunset Mountain to find their dream home.  Adjacent and behind the Grove Park Inn is the Sunset Mountain neighborhood which not only looks to the west for those sunset views but also the views of the thriving downtown and city lights of Asheville, NC. The cityscape views have almost become as popular as those sunset amazing mountain views. Check them out for yourself. This just might be the next neighborhood you want to call your “home in the Mountains”.

The Eskritt Real Estate Group has all the homes for sale on their website as well as the expertise to bring buyers and sellers together.
